Hawaii Marriage License by County

Hawaii has five counties, each served by a district health office that handles marriage license applications and vital records requests. All counties use the same statewide EMRS online application system, but local offices, agent contacts, and pickup options vary by island. Select a county below to find the local office details, phone numbers, hours, and specific procedures for getting a marriage license or certified copy of a marriage certificate in that county.

About Hawaii County Marriage Records

All Hawaii marriage license applications go through the Electronic Marriage and Civil Union Registration System. Couples complete the online application and pay the $65 fee, then appear in person before a licensed agent on the island where the ceremony will take place. The license is valid for 30 days and may be used anywhere in the state. Certified copies of marriage certificates can be ordered online at vitrec.ehawaii.gov for records from July 1909 to the present. For older historical records going back to 1826, visit the Hawaii State Archives.
